Are you Landscape Industry Certified?

Landscape Industry Certified

Be recognized as a qualified professional by earning an industry-developed certification.  The internationally recognized Landscape Industry Certified designations available to SNLA members. The Landscape Industry Certified program is available for Technicians (formerly CHT), Retail Horticulturists (Formerly CHT), Designers (formerly CLD), and Managers (formerly CLP).

The Landscape Industry Certified Technician/Retail Horticulturist designation is available in 6 specialties: Hardscape Installation, Softscape Installation, Turf Maintenance and Ornamental Maintenance, Interior Landscaping, and Retail Horticulturist.  This designation is earned through the successful completion of a written and hands on evaluation. The Saskatchewan industry can take part in test days in Alberta, or Manitoba. 

If you are looking for a way to communicate to your clients that you are a professional designer, consider going through the Landscape Industry Certified Designer program.  This involves the successful completion of a written exam, as well as a portfolio review of your design projects. 

The Landscape Industry Certified Manager program is geared toward business owners and managers.  It focuses on the main aspects of running a business and provides useful tools to increase productivity within a business.  Successfully completing a 7-module written exam will earn you your designation.  A set of study manuals is available from the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association (CNLA) to help candidates prepare for the test. 

SNLA will be offering Landscape Industry Certified Designer and Manager exams throughout the year based on interest.

CNLA and it's provincial partners offer a wide variety of education programs ranging from the technical to motivational. Many of these education programs directly support the CNLA certification programs, but are also excellent stand alone learning tools.
